Helsinki police arrested a man suspected of attempted homicide after an incident Saturday evening in the Kaivopiha passageway.

Around 20:00, the suspect and victim—men in their 20s and 30s who the police suspect knew each other—argued while walking toward Kaivopiha, according to eyewitnesses. The police suspect that this led to an attempted homicide, the police noted in a statement.

The suspect fled but was later apprehended later on Sunday night in Tikkurila, Vantaa.

The victim received first aid at the scene and remains hospitalized in stable condition.

The police did not comment on the weapon used.

Two weeks earlier, another violent incident occurred when two men fatally stabbed a person outside a karaoke bar on Mikonkatu in Helsinki center; police are investigating that case as homicide.
