On Monday morning, it began to snow in Helsinki. The snowing lasted to around noon and meanwhile the fresh blanket inspired people to build snowmen and throw snowballs. At the following night, the wind picked up momentum and the snowing continued. The conditions were now stormy and the snowfall heavy.

On Tuesday it has so far snowed the whole day. The public transport has been having difficulties to stay on schedule, and several fender benders have taken place on the slippery roads. The snowfall is to continue, according to meteorologists, until Wednesday.

We followed people in the center of Finland’s capital for two days. Aiming to capture the joy and struggle in photographs amid the first blizzard of the year.
