THE EASTER TRAFFIC on Good Friday has been comparable to a quiet Sunday. according to Fintraffic, the traffic management service that monitors traffic using real-time data.

Fintraffic had previously estimated that Good Friday traffic would be heavy between 09:00 and 14:00. Traffic jams were expected on exits in the capital region and on highways 4, 5 and 9.

“It was as if people didn’t want to move,” said Ossi Riikonen, a transport operator at Fintraffic.

The return traffic for Easter will start to pick up in the afternoon and evening of Sunday. The return peak, according to Fintraffic, will fall on Monday.
