HELSINKI—Dance music festival Weekend, scheduled for August 7–8 2020, will be canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“We have been closely monitoring the corona situation throughout the spring and hoped that conditions would improve,” the organizers of the festival said in a statement. “We do not want to put our customers, artists and employees at risk.”

Weekend festival celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2021.

At the same time, the festival will get a new home in Käpylä sports park and in the outdoor areas on the park side of the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre (Messukeskus). The festival will be held from August 6–7 2021.

Negotiations on the artists for the upcoming Weekend are already underway.
