Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland are the perfect pair in Uncharted (directed by Ruben Fleischer), which has the oomph of an old Indiana Jones adventure.
The script had been on Wahlberg’s table for so long that he was initially cast to play the younger character, Nathan Drake. In the present-day adaptation, he plays the 50-something Victor “Sully” Sullivan, which Wahlberg didn’t mind. In various interviews, Wahlberg said that he liked watching Holland do all the drowning and falling off the helicopter, while Sully was making sure that his suit stays intact.
Uncharted is based on the PlayStation console game of the same title, which according to Wahlberg and Holland has sold about 40,000000 copies.
Holland’s obsession with the game started in 2017, when according to him he had to be dragged from his trailer to the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming because he was often trying to finish a mission in the Uncharted video game.
While Wahlberg said that his experience with video games is limited (in his youth he had to hustle to get a quarter to play an arcade game), the experience he brings with a career spanning nearly three decades to the character of Sully is undisputable.
Uncharted is one of those films to enjoy with a glass of wine, good company and a relaxed mind.
‘Uncharted’ premieres in cinemas on February 18.
