Tram services to the growing neighborhood of Jätkäsaari will improve from August 14 when the new Helsinki tram network is rolled out. At the same time, the new track section on Välimerenkatu will open.

The tracks on Välimerenkatu have been built over the summer and the new track section and tram stops will open on schedule. From Monday, August 14, tram 9 will start running along Välimerenkatu to its new terminal in Saukonpaasi.

Two new pairs of stops will be opened on Välimerenkatu: the stops at Välimerenkatu are located by the Malta House and the stops at Huutokonttori stops are next to the Tyynenmerenkatu junction.

The West Terminal will be served by a new tram route, 7, running from the West Terminal via the Central Railway Station and Kruununhaka to Pasila station. Between the Central Railway Station and Huutokonttori, the tram will use the same route as tram 9 and then continue along Tyynenmerenkatu to the West Terminal.

There will be no changes to the routes of trams 8 and 6T in Jätkäsaari.
