The COVID-19 pandemic is raging in Suursuo Hospital in Helsinki’s Maunula district, where dozens of patients and staff members have contracted the coronavirus.
So far, there are 67 confirmed coronavirus infections in the hospital. 26 patients and 41 employees have been contracted.
12 patients have died due to coronavirus complications.
Contractions have been found in several wards; the first ones in palliative care. The hospital is not accepting new patients into wards exposed to the virus. “The patients have not been moving from one ward to another,” said Medical Director Laura Pikkarainen of Helsinki in an interview with STT News.
So, three options are likely in an attempt to discover the source of the virus: new patients, the staff or close relatives who have visited the hospital.
