The school year begins in many parts of Finland on Wednesday.

This is the first school year for about 60,000 first-graders.

About 62,000 students begin their three-year studies in secondary school. Nearly 34,000 new students begin their continuing education journey in an upper secondary school and 45,000 in a vocational school.

Schools will begin their year in contact teaching.
