
Ursula von der Leyen, the president-elect of the European Commission, will visit Helsinki on Thursday, October 24, on the invitation of Prime Minister Antti Rinne. Rinne and von der Leyen will meet at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence Kesäranta to discuss current EU affairs and the commission’s future agenda.
The main topics to be discussed will be the priorities of Finland’s presidency of the Council of the EU, including the finalization of the multiannual financial framework.
The term of the commission led by von der Leyen will begin after the European Parliament has approved the overall composition of the new commission.
