Last Thursday evening, a man with a white jacket grabbed a nine-year-old boy and tried to carry him away at a parking lot in Espoo, northern Tapiola.

The boy had been waiting for his father.

The boy had been able to free himself and the white-jacketed man escaped. The father arrived at the scene soon after the incident.

The police have found a suspect and have been interrogating him. He is now suspected of an assault.

The motive is still unclear, but according to the investigator in charge, Inspector Teemu Värttinen, the suspect and the boy didn’t know each other.

Värttinen speculates that the act may be related to a mental health problem.
