HELSINKI—The police have caught a man who is suspected of having a gun in an apartment at Herttoniemenranta, in the district of Herttoniemi, late on Thursday afternoon.

Several patrols arrived at the scene around 15:00. The police sealed the area.

The Helsinki Police Department said on Twitter that their goal was to resolve the situation by negotiating with the suspect.

Around 16:00 the police noted that they have caught the man, and the operation went peacefully.

The type of crime, according to the police, is going to be determined later. The police are investigating, for example, if the suspect was holding an airsoft gun.
