The police are suspecting that a mother murdered her under-school-aged child in Espoo’s Suurpelto district on Sunday evening. In social media, there are pictures of the mother holding a toddler. She worked as an English teacher in a Helsinki-based company.
During the incident, the mother and the child were together in a private apartment, and there were no other persons involved.
The mother confessed to the crime on Wednesday, and she was imprisoned at the Western Uusimaa District Court on Wednesday.
The suspect and the victim are British citizens.
According to eyewitness accounts, a massive police operation took place in Suurpelto on Sunday evening before 21:00. An eyewitness saw a woman in a wheelchair and neck support was taken away to an ambulance.
Some neighbors saw the police carrying away a small body bag.
The police are investigating the incident as a murder.
