Antti Häkkänen, Finland’s minister of defense, announced the establishment of a NATO Deployable CIS Module (DCM) in Riihimäki, set to begin operations in early 2027. This module aims to enhance NATO’s defense capabilities for Finland and the High North while boosting Riihimäki Garrison’s role as a command and control expertise center. The DCM will provide communication and information system services to support NATO forces within Finland and potentially beyond, employing around 60 Finnish nationals. Funded through NATO’s common budget, it forms part of the alliance’s command structure.
