On Monday morning the streets of Helsinki are covered with a thick layer of snow. The snow depth in the center areas is currently 11 centimeters, and more snow is expected in the evening when around 5 to 15 centimeters of new snow is expected to fall.

The driving conditions are bad because of the snowfall and slippery roads. The Finnish Meteorological Institute has issued warnings for bad driving weather to Uusimaa, Finland Proper, Pirkanmaa, Central Finland, Kanta-Häme, Päijät-Häme and Kymenlaakso.

Daytime temperatures are going to stay around 0 to +1 degrees Celsius in the capital region.

The heavy snowfall is expected to begin on Monday evening and to continue until Wednesday in southern Finland.
