Since the beginning of the pandemic, there are 37,772 confirmed coronavirus infections in Finland, according to the new numbers released on Thursday by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

The death toll is at 582, and the number includes 8 recent new deaths (At noon THL reported six new deaths. In the afternoon the total had increased to eight.) 178 people are receiving hospital care for the symptoms caused by the virus, of which 27 patients are in intensive care.

The number of new infections between Wednesday and Thursday is 223.

In the past 24 hours, most new infections were confirmed in the following cities:

62 in Helsinki, 26 in Vantaa, 21 in Espoo and 20 in Oulu.
