In Häjyt 2, suspense takes over the lack of dialogue and action in the Finnish-style blockbuster.

Finns don’t like to talk much more than is necessary, and this review turned out to be a reflection of that. Häjyt 2 is a goddamn good portrait of Finnish guts and when we go through the gray rock (läpi harmaan kiven) by any means necessary.
Joel Hirvonen, who played a truck driver in one of the highlights of 2022, Sisu, is now cast as the lead in Häjyt 2, Konsta Karhu, the son of Jussi Murikka (Samuli Edelmann).
Edelmann! Yes, sir; one of the greatest Finnish actors to grace the big and small screens. The legendary actor is now 56 and looks at least 10 years younger! So what, you may say: good genes!
But it takes more than good genes to play Wistrom, one of the villains in Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011).
A recent book Samuli – Pimeydestä valoon (2021) revealed that Edelmann is still in contact with Tom “rack ‘em up” Cruise!

Well, let the good times roll. Following his release from prison, Konsta returns home to his rural roots. Despite others’ support, old conflicts lead to a relapse. Konsta’s encounter with his past forces him to make a life-altering decision.
But does Joel Hirvonen give us a role to remember as Edelmann did 26 years ago? Indeed. He. Does.
Solar Films and director Aleksi Mäkelä have created another blockbuster in Finnish style (the previous Häjyt caught 330, 000 viewers in cinemas) with a ratio of action and talk similar to a Zen riddle.
A student asked the master who the Buddha was. The master replied:
“The cat climbs the pillar.”
The student confessed that he could not understand this.
The master said:
“Since you don’t understand, ask the cat.”
‘Häjyt 2′ premieres in cinemas on February 19.
