An intensified Easter crackdown in Eastern Finland exposed far more drunk driving cases than usual.

During Easter, intensified drunk driving enforcement in Eastern Finland led to breathalyzing 9,478 drivers, the police noted in a statement.
Authorities caught 19 for suspected drunk driving and 15 for aggravated offenses, while 41 tested below the legal limit.
Inspector Seppo Porokka noted the number of apprehensions was exceptional for a typical weekend.
Reducing drunk driving, along with speeding, remains a key goal of police traffic safety efforts, as enforcement effectively decreases incidents and accidents.
