A deadly fire erupted early Monday at the Kontula shopping center in East Helsinki, claiming the life of a man who worked at the site.

Early Monday morning, a fire broke out at Kontula shopping center in East Helsinki, resulting in the death of a man born in the 1960s who worked at the site.
The blaze originated in a rear storage room near the loading dock and quickly spread to the roof and several other areas, causing significant damage.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
Police are investigating the incident and currently have no reason to suspect foul play.
Firefighting efforts concluded by 08:00, with mop-up operations still underway.
Opened in 1967, Kontula shopping center is Finland’s largest open-air shopping center.
