TOKYO—Finnish wrestler Arvi Savolainen beats Uzur Dzhuzupbekov from Kyrgyzstani 4-1 and advances to a bronze medal match in men’s Greco-Roman wrestling up to 97 kilos.
Savolainen collided with Dzhuzupbekov early in the morning hours on Tuesday, Finnish time, in a repechage match where the defensive game of Savolainen came to his favor.
In the beginning, Dzhuzupbekov tried to throw Savolainen to the mat, but Savolainen defended successfully and slipped over to his opponent’s back.
The rest of the bout seemed even, but Savolainen scored a point from here and there with his solid defensive game.
Savolainen will face Mohammad Hadi Saravi for the bronze medal on Tuesday afternoon at 13:30 Finnish time.
