As the ski holiday approaches in Uusimaa, Southwest Finland and Satakunta next week, travelers heading to the north should brace for significant traffic congestion.

Those traveling by car to their ski holiday destinations should be prepared for traffic congestion. The winter holiday will be celebrated next week in Uusimaa, Southwest Finland and Satakunta.
To avoid heavy traffic, travel north on Saturday afternoon.
Elina Kiuru of Finntraffic, Finland’s state-owned traffic information company, said the worst traffic jams will occur on Friday evening and Saturday morning.
Clear, frosty weather should help traffic flow, but Highways 4, 5 and 9 will be crowded.
Plan ahead, allow extra time, and avoid unnecessary overtaking to minimize delays.
