Posti is restructuring its operations in response to industry changes and plans to cut up to 172 permanent positions during the first half of the year, the Finnish postal service noted in a statement on Wednesday.

At the Helsinki mail center, nearly 80 permanent jobs will be lost due to machine sorting.

With over 13,000 employees in Finland, Posti will primarily reduce sorting roles in Helsinki by up to 79 jobs. It will also eliminate as many as 44 customer service positions as services are consolidated into larger centers in Helsinki and Rovaniemi.

Customer service points in Kuopio, Jyväskylä, Tampere and Lieto are set to close by 2026. The transfer of services from five stores to a partner network affecting locations in Helsinki, Espoo and Jyväskylä will result in up to 27 job cuts. Basic and early delivery production could see up to 22 job losses.
