From the beginning of the pandemic, there are 16,902 confirmed coronavirus infections in Finland, according to the new numbers released on Wednesday by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

The number of new infections between Tuesday and Wednesday is 265.

In the past 24 hours, most new infections were confirmed in the following cities: 67 in Helsinki (5,328), 48 in Vantaa (1,709) and 39 in Espoo (1,889).

In addition, new infections were confirmed in the cities and municipalities below:

22 in Turku, 11 in Kuopio, 6 in Vaasa, 5 in Oulu, 4 in Lahti, 4 in Luoto, 4 in Kouvola, 4 in Tornio, 4 in Kirkkonummi, 3 in Raisio, 2 in Lieto, 2 in Hamina, 2 in Hyvinkää, 2 in Tampere, 2 in Jyväskylä, 2 in Sipoo, 2 in Salo, 2 in Kruunupyy, 2 in Nurmijärvi, 2 in Pedesöre, 1 in Loppi, 1 in Lappeenranta, 1 in Mustasaari, 1 in Kokkola, 1 in Pori,  1 in Rovaniemi, 1 in Akaa, 1 in Kittilä, 1 in Orivesi, 1 in Pornainen, 1 in Närpiö, 1 in Kotka, 1 in Kempele, 1 in Kerava, 1 in Loviisa, 1 in Kuhmo, 1 in Vöyri, 1 in Loimaa.

In addition new infections were confirmed in Kitee but the number is unknown.

The individual statistics of new infections don’t include municipalities where there are fewer than 5 infections.

No new deaths related to the coronavirus have been reported. The death toll is now at 359.

Currently, there are 70 people in hospital care being treated for the coronavirus. 13 people are in intensive care.
