On Thursday, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) confirmed 1,024 new coronavirus infections in Finland. This is the highest number recorded in 24 hours since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the past 24 hours, most new cases were found in the following cities:

278 in Helsinki, 142 in Vantaa, 90 in Espoo, 44 in Tampere, 39 in Turku, 30 in Oulu, 17 in Lahti, 17 in Jyväskylä, 16 in Porvoo, 15 in Nurmijärvi, 14 in Kuopio, 13 in Kerava, 12 in Vaasa, 12 in Kaarina, 10 in Kangasala, 10 in Kirkkonummi, 10 in Mikkeli, 10 in Kotka, 9 in Hämeenlinna, 8 in Hyvinkää, 7 in Rauma, 7 in Salo, 7 in Akaa.
