Lohja, a southern city in the Uusimaa region, will host the world’s first Ice Carousel Festival and Ice Carousel Championships on February 23-24.

The festival will include many ice carousels, featuring ice mechanics, light and sound related sculptures. Children will also have their own ice carousel with animals made out of ice.
On Saturday, four teams will compete on who will build the most interesting and funniest carousel in the first ever Ice Carousel World Championships. The jury contains for example of the most famous Finn in Russia, Ville Haapasalo.
The event is free of charge and will feature a lot of other activities, too, such as reindeer rides and ice skating.
Lohja prepares up to 20,000 visitors. The event will be arranged by the City of Lohja, with the help of Käpylehto and an extensive network of partners.
