The Finnish Meteorological Institute has declared a warning for bad driving weather. The roads are expected to be slippery from southwestern Finland to Northern Savonia and Northern Karelia regions.

On Friday, the first snow fell in the cities of Jyväskylä and Kuopio. There has to be at least one centimeter of snow on the ground when defining “first snow.” In Jyväskylä and Kuopio, there were two centimeters of snow on the ground after 09:00 in the morning.

Finland is under a cold northern breeze, and the weather is expected to vary between rain and snow. The snow is likely to come down as sleet in many areas and is not likely to stay on the ground in southern Finland.

The highest temperatures even in the south are just a couple of degrees Celsius.
