Rammstein, the German rock and metal band known for its grand pyrotechnics,  attracted tens of thousands of spectators to the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki’s Töölö district on Saturday evening.

The members of the band arrived in Helsinki already earlier in the week. The yellow press has covered topics such as the lead singer, Till Lindemann, wrestling in a bar with a Finnish rocker. He has also been spotted buying groceries and enjoying the sun on a terrace.

The fans at the stadium were united by wearing aviator-style sunglasses and dark clothes. Many spoke dialects that could be heard in the northern parts of Finland or in the eastern villages closer to the Russian border.

Rammstein has played in Finland many times before and has a solid fanbase in the country. Yours truly saw them previously at a metal festival arranged on a beach in Helsinki ten years ago.

The crowd was massive; the heat was on your face. “Du, du hast, du hast mich!” they sang.

And likely will sing again tonight. And, maybe, when thinking about it, tomorrow as well.

Both concerts have been sold out and are expected to gather a total crowd of 80,000.
