True Story, a seven-episode limited series, starring Kevin Hart (Fatherhood, Jumanji: The Next Level, The Upside) and Wesley Snipes (White Men Can’t Jump, Demolition Man, Blade) grips you, shakes you, and just when you were thinking that you know what is going on, you don’t. “I saw it as an opportunity to create a mindfuck atmosphere,” Hart said in an interview with Men’s Journal.

Hart plays Kid, a famous comedian who returns to his roots in Philadelphia. He reunites with his older brother, Carlton, portrayed by Snipes. The night becomes a disaster and could cost both of them everything.

The series has been directed by Hannelle M. Culpepper, Stephen Williams,  and produced and written by Eric Newman (Narcos; Narcos: Mexico). The work-in-progress title was called Crazy Kevin.

In the end, the story came down to a fictionalized account of Hart’s life story while purposefully exploring the wrong paths. “Dark roads can sometimes lead to discovery,” Hart said.

If you are about to watch True Story, prepare to schedule the evening off. Once you start, you wouldn’t dare to stop.

True Story’ premieres on Netflix on November 24.
