A tram and a passenger car collided on Mannerheimintie in Etu-Töölö on Friday evening, prompting emergency response and temporary changes to tram routes.

HELSINKI

A tram and a passenger car collided on Mannerheimintie near an intersection close to Hesperia Park in Etu-Töölö around 18:30 on Friday evening.

According to media reports, a tram on line 10 traveling from the north toward the city center crashed with the left front of the car.

Around 19:00, the rescue department reported that the accident site had been cleared and that no serious injuries had occurred.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Tram lines 4 and 10 are operating on an alternate route because of the incident.
