Kaamos, or the polar night, will begin in Finnish Lapland this weekend.
According to the weather service Foreca, Kaamos will begin in Finland’s northernmost village of Nuorgam in Utsjoki when the sun sets there after 12:00 in the afternoon on Saturday.
Kaamos will end in Nuorgami on January 18, 2024.
That’s when the sun will rise in the village for the first time next year.
