The Finnish women’s national ice hockey team wins bronze after beating the Swiss team 3–1 at the 2021 Women’s Worlds in Calgary, Canada on Tuesday night.
This is Finland’s 14th medal at the IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship.
The Finns are also the defending Olympic bronze medalists from 2018.
While proud of their achievement, Finns are already excited about seeking another medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing in February 2022.
“Our younger players will be better off, even our more experienced players will get better,” said Finnish coach Pasi Mustonen. “Possibly even the opponents will be better. We’ll see what happens. But we will be better in Beijing.”
This year at the Women’s Worlds, the Canadian team took home gold after beating their U.S. counterpart 3–2.
