The Finnish word “terassikeli,” meaning terrace weather, perfectly captures the upcoming warm spell as southern temperatures are expected to rise to 12–14C over the weekend.

SOUTHERN FINLAND

Here’s a useful Finnish word for you: terassikeli (pronounced just like it’s written). That’s terrace weather.

Terrasikeli is in the horizon as we get closer to the end of the week. Southern temperatures, according to the forecasters, will rise to 12–14C over the weekend! Meteorologists describe the persistent warm weather conditions as “unseasonable,” but so what. Just enjoy the soft touch of the Föhn wind.

In more detail, Friday will stay sunny in the south, with temperatures ranging from 5–10C.

Saturday will be mostly sunny with variable clouds. Highs will reach 12–13C inland, but it will be cooler along the coasts.

Sunday is forecast to be sunny with highs of 12–14C.

So far, this year’s highest temperature is 13.2C, recorded on March 14 in the small town of Porvoo.

Next week promises variable weather—occasional rain mixed with sun—and some nights may bring sleet or snow.

Daytime highs will hover near 10C early in the week but could slowly decline as cooler air moves into Finland from the north.

So, changing to summer tires may not be ideal quite yet.
