Public transport will be disrupted on Friday.

ON FRIDAY, strikes will bring most of the public transportation to a standstill.

The strikes will largely stop train, metro and tram services. According to the government-owned railway company, VR, night trains will run, and the Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (HSL) notes that a small number of buses will run in the Helsinki region.

On Thursday, there were widespread disruptions in air traffic due to the strike, and the same will continue on Friday. According to Finnair, the strike will have a significant impact on its operations. In general, the disruptions will take place between 14:00 and 18:00 on Friday.

Postal service will also be disrupted on Friday due to the strikes. According to the postal service, letters and packages may be delayed for a few days due to the strike.

There will be no commuter rail service on Friday. On Thursday night into Friday, commuter trains will run until the end of service on Thursday at approximately 02:00 in the morning. Normal service will resume at 05:30 on Saturday morning.

No metro

There will be no metro service on Friday.

The 15 tram and light rail lines will not operate on Friday. On the night of Thursday to Friday, trams will run until the end of service on Thursday, approximately 02:00 in the morning. Service will resume on Saturday morning.

On the night of Thursday to Friday, buses will run until the end of Thursday service, which is approximately 02:00.

After that, most buses will not run until Saturday morning.

According to current information, ferry services to Suomenlinna and Kruunuvuorenranta will operate as normal.

The strikes are political and are used by unions to oppose government plans for labor market reforms and, among others, cuts in unemployment benefits.
