HELSINKI
The police are looking for a suspect who stabbed a person in Oodi Central Library on Sunday afternoon.
According to media sources, the stabbing occurred on the basement floor in a toilet before 16:00.
“There was blood everywhere,” a source who cleaned the premises said to the daily newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.
According to Anna-Maria Soininvaara, the CEO of Oodi Central Library, this was the first act of violence in the library that opened in December 2018.
Soininvaara is speculating that the incident is related to a clash between the substance abusers in the vicinity of the Helsinki railway station, which is located next to the library.
According to the police estimate, outsiders are not likely in danger even if the suspect is on the run.
