In September public gatherings and events will be limited to a maximum of 50 people, according to the new regulations by the Regional State Administrative Agencies published on Monday.

“It’s necessary to tighten the regulations because the epidemiological situation in Finland has turned into an unfavorable direction and the confirmed Covid-19 incidents have increased in August,” the agencies noted in a statement.

However, events or gatherings can exceed 50 people if the organizers can follow the guidelines set by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and the Ministry of Education and Culture. The guidelines, for example, presume that patrons can maintain a physical distance of one to two meters between each other.

The new regulations will be in effect between September 1-30.
