President Sauli Niinistö wishes happy Chinese New Year of the Goat.
“I would like to send my warmest wishes to the people of China from the snowy Finland, the home of the Santa Claus. I wish you happy Chinese New Year!” Niinistö says in his greetings.
Here’s the rest of his greetings. Unedited and complete:
In 2015 we celebrate the 65th anniversary of Finnish-Chinese diplomatic relations. Finland was one of the first Western countries to recognize the People’s Republic of China. We have come a long way in developing our societies and our bilateral relations.
Today, the scale of our cooperation in different areas is remarkable and China is our largest trading partner in Asia. China is important for Finland both as a bilateral partner and as an international player. Good bilateral relations provide a sound basis for all cooperation between Finland and China.
My special greetings go to the children and youth in China and in Finland, who lay the foundation for the future of our relations.
Let the Year of the Goat be successful for China, Finland and the whole international community!
