President Sauli Niinistö has tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday, the president’s office notes in a statement. “Despite the infection, President Niinistö is well and continuing to work remotely,” the office noted.

Because of the infection, some of President Niinistö’s upcoming program has been canceled, such as his scheduled visit to Norway to meet King Harald V on Thursday.

However, the next scheduled state visit has already been set on the president’s calendar. Between May 17 and 18, President Niinistö and his spouse, Jenni Haukio, will visit Sweden at the invitation of King Carl Gustav XVI.
