The presidents discussed the coronavirus situations in Finland and Russia as well as bilateral economic, environmental and other cooperation between the countries.

On international affairs, the presidents spoke about the Arctic cooperation, arms control and the initiative made by President Putin early this year on a summit of the permanent members of the UN Security Council.

President Niinistö stated that the need for dialogue between the great powers has become increasingly important in recent months.

The call was made on Finland’s initiative.
