Seniors of upper secondary school ride on a truck in Helsinki center during ‘penkkarit’ on Thursday, February 14, 2019. Picture: Tony Öhberg for Finland Today / View gallery

Over a hundred trucks circled around the Helsinki center on Thursday afternoon as nearly 4,000 seniors of upper secondary schools climbed on in their costumes to spread joy and candy.

The yearly tradition symbolizes leaving the school and marks the beginning of starting to prepare for the matriculation exams to be held in March.

As according to the tradition, the seniors, abit in Finnish, hang big sheets and signs at the side of the trucks. These slogans offer great insight to the young minds on the verge of becoming 18.

We caught the vibe and many of the slogans in pictures.
