One person is dead and ten have been injured in an attack in Herman Shopping Center in Kuopio, Northern Savonia region after 13:00 on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Eastern Finland Police Department, the attack was conducted at the premises of Savonia Vocational College, located inside the shopping center.

Among the injured, two have been seriously hurt.

The police say that the suspect is a native Finn. He has been caught and is injured. He was carrying an edged weapon and a gun. The police had to use gun in the incident.

According to eyewitnesses, an unknown person had entered the classroom and began the violence.

An eyewitness said to regional newspaper Keskisuomalainen that the perpetrator was a young man with a sword.

The eyewitness had seen when the man attacked a girl with the sword in the neck and was also stabbing her in the stomach with it.

According to the eyewitness, the man was also blowing up firebombs.

The police have sealed off the area and are conducting investigations on the premises.
