The metro service in eastern Helsinki between Kontula and Mellunmäki will according to current information be interrupted for more than two months next year, the City of Helsinki reports. It will be replaced by a bus service.

“The metro bridges need to be rehabilitated to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow in the future. Repairing the bridges will eliminate the risk of structural deterioration,” the city notes in the statement.

The Länsimäentie metro bridges are located in Helsinki between Kontula and Mellunmäki, partly at Mellunmäki station. The bridge complex consists of two separate bridges that merge into a single structure at the western end of the bridges.
