Miss Finland 2017 will be crowned on Sunday evening in Helsinki. Ten finalists have been selected from a bunch of young women who underwent a strenuous day at the Miss Academy. During the course they learned to walk properly in high heels. They were thought how to transform an everyday make-up ready for the Presidential Ball; they were taught how to pose, speak and perform with self-confidence. From the Academy, 10 finalists were selected.
This year, the competition has received a facelift to honor the 80th Miss Finland beauty contest and the centenary of Finland’s independence. For example, the Miss Finland candidates didn’t have to fly to Turkey to pose in bikinis. Instead, they were photographed in a pool in Finland.
To honor the centenary, Finland Today presents the finalists in national costumes.
