A man suffered serious injuries after being struck by a metro train at the Helsinki Central Railway station on Wednesday morning, prompting police to investigate the cause of the accident and causing temporary delays in metro service.

Authorities received a report of an accident resulting in personal injury at the Helsinki Central Railway station at 09:51 on Wednesday morning.

The police later reported that a metro train struck an adult man, causing him serious injuries.

Cleanup operations following the accident led to delays in metro service in both directions.

Authorities concluded their work at the scene around 11:00.

There is no suspicion of criminal activity related to this case, but police are investigating the cause of the accident.
