Helsinki Airport has been chosen as the 2023 best airport in Europe in its size by Airport Council International (ACI). ACI is an organization of airport authorities aimed at unifying industry practices for airport standards.

Finavia, the airline company that operates the airfield, got recognition for, among other things, excellent leadership and development.

This year the most important criteria for receiving the award included sustainability efforts, innovations, operative efficiency and resilience and the ability to survive and recover from the pandemic crisis.

Kimmo Mäki, CEO of Finavia, said in a statement that it has taken a lot of “resilient Finnish attitude and sisu” to raise Helsinki Airport back to its feet amid hard pandemic years and extensive cost-cutting program.
