About 70,000 people, according to the police estimate, attended the capping of Havis Amanda on Sunday, May Day’s Eve, in Helsinki. The temperature was below 10 degrees Celsius, and the wind blowing from the sea was chilly. The Esplanade Park swarmed with people, many wearing white student caps. Some wore funny costumes and sunglasses, and people were united by laughter and the thirst for sparkling wine and beer. View our gallery above and the video below.
