Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen (NCP) will visit Rome, Italy, from March 2 to 3. During her trip, she will meet with her Italian counterpart, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, participate in an Italian-Finnish business forum and deliver a speech at the Arctic Circle Forum on Finland’s Arctic foreign and security policy.
Alongside bilateral topics, the ministers will address current foreign and security policy issues such as Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, European security matters, and developments in the Middle East.
The foreign minister will also take part in an Italian-Finnish business forum organized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. This event brings together leading companies from both countries to strengthen economic cooperation across various sectors—including those related to the Arctic region.
“Italy is a significant trading partner for Finland, and investments in both directions are increasing. Commercial cooperation between our countries has great potential for growth also in the Arctic region,” Minister Elina Valtonen noted in a statement.
Additionally, Minister Valtonen will attend the Arctic Circle Rome Forum to present a speech on Finland’s approach to Arctic foreign and security policy.
