Antti Häkkänen, Finland’s minister of defense, announced on Monday the establishment of a NATO Deployable CIS Module (DCM) in Riihimäki.

Antti Häkkänen (NCP), the defense minister, announced on Monday the creation of a NATO Deployable CIS Module (DCM) in Riihimäki. The module is set to begin operations in early 2027.
“Setting up a NATO Deployable CIS Module in Riihimäki will enhance NATO’s capacity to defend Finland and the High North, while also elevating the status of the Riihimäki Garrison as a key center of expertise in command and control systems. My decision on this location is grounded in a thorough analysis of Finland’s homeland defense needs, taking into account both NATO’s requirements and Finland’s defense perspectives,” Minister Häkkänen noted in a statement.
The Deployable CIS Module (DCM) will provide communication and information system (CIS) services to support NATO forces and commands within Finland and potentially across the military alliance. The DCM will employ approximately 60 people, all Finnish nationals.
The DCM is part of NATO’s command structure. Its creation, operation and upkeep qualify for funding from NATO’s common budget.
