Finland’s president will spend two days in Ottawa meeting Canadian leaders, focusing on shared security concerns, economic ties, and cooperation in the Arctic as both countries look to deepen their partnership.

President Alexander Stubb is set to visit Ottawa, Canada, for a working trip from next Tuesday through Wednesday, the Finnish president’s office notes in a statement.

On April 14, President Stubb will meet with Governor General Mary Simon to discuss Finland–Canada relations, global affairs, Arctic issues, and indigenous peoples’ roles in sustainable development.

Later, he will meet Prime Minister Mark Carney to focus on economic cooperation, security, transatlantic relations, Arctic matters, and the Middle East, along with Russia’s aggression in Ukraine.

On April 15, he will participate in a discussion at Carleton University about global order and attend a business seminar on economic security. During his Ottawa visit, he will also meet Speaker Francis Scarpaleggia.

President Stubb’s working visit to Canada includes Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen (NCP), Economic Affairs Minister Sakari Puisto (Finns) and a large business delegation from various industries such as defense, technology, maritime, and mining. Notable participating companies include ABB, ALMACO Group, Nokia, Wärtsilä, and many others.
