Beast, is a tale of survival, man versus predator. This time a man and two teenagers versus the King of the Jungle, or Simba, as the lion is known in some circles.

In this particular CGI slasher, Dr. Nate Samuels (Idris Elba) is the man and Meredith (Iyana Halley) and Norah (Leah Jeffries) are the teenage daughters.

Sounds interesting? When the catshit-crazy lion hits the car window the first time, and the big subwoofers of the cinema rattle the seats, it definitely gets your attention.

Then, the more we see Simba in its all-computer-generated glory, it becomes as interesting as a bad dream.

It’s a good thing that this one ends quite quickly, the duration is only 93 minutes, and when you leave the theater this beast is already long forgotten.

Directed by Baltasar Kormákur. Written by Ryan Engle and Jaime Primak Sullivan. Beast premieres in Finland on September 2.
