On Wednesday, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) confirmed 872 new coronavirus infections in Finland, which is the highest number in a day during the whole pandemic.

In the past 24 hours, most new cases were found in the following cities:

227 in Helsinki, 88 in Espoo, 80 in Vantaa, 69 in Tampere, 47 in Turku, 43 in Kuhmo, 22 in Jyväskylä, 21 in Rauma, 15 in Salo, 13 in Oulu, 13 in Kuopio, 9 in Kajaani, 9 in Kangasala, 9 in Lohja, 9 in Hämeenlinna, 8 in Rovaniemi, 8 in Uusikaupunki, 7 in Lempäälä, 7 in Kerava, 7 in Lappeenranta, 6 in Pori, 6 in Kirkkonummi, 5 in Tuusula, 5 in Porvoo.

According to THL, 95 patients are receiving hospital care because of symptoms caused by the coronavirus. 15 patients are in intensive care. On Monday, the number of patients in intensive care was 7, so the amount has doubled in two days.
