450 applicants to higher education institutes in the second joint application have received a false offer of admission.

40 applicants have already accepted the offer.

In a statement on Friday, the Finnish National Agency for Education defines the mistake as a human error.

The error happened while going through matters related to the waiting list.

The false offer was sent to applicants on the waiting list and because the admission from the waiting list has ended on August 3 their offer will be rejected.

“Also, it’s up to the higher education institutes to accept students. It’s not the task of the Finnish National Agency for Education,” the agency noted in the statement.

The applicants who received the false offer of admission have been notified.
